It was the capital of the Seljuk Empire, which is why it’s often called the “Capital of the Seljuks.” Konya is also the home of the world-famous philosopher and poet, Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi . Every December, thousands of people visit Konya to attend the Şeb-i Arus ceremonies, which commemorate Rumi’s life and teachings. The Mevlana Museum is one of the most visited attractions in the city. When it comes to food, Konya’s cuisine is truly unique.
